Engineering & Systems
The Engineering and Systems Division provides:
- Modeling and Simulation of complex aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and structural phenomenon.
We are noted for our expertise in defense applications for the design, development, and analysis of ships,
ordnance systems and weapon interactions with targets. Our senior analytic staff is supported by a variety
of sophisticated finite element computer codes to provide static and dynamic analyses
of objects in both an aerodynamic and hydrodynamic environment.
We have a unique and nationally recognized expertise in supercavitation including supercavitating projectile
design, analyses, and lethality. These models allow ATR to design conceptual models,
simulate real world behavior, design experiments, and produce advanced performance items.
- Engineering Support for complex programs including program management, operations and systems
performance analysis for cost-effectiveness determinations, acquisition support, weapons systems and explosives safety support,
technical data package and writing/editing support,
prototype fabrication, with unique capabilities in electrochemistry for battery design consultations. The Engineering
Support Group has experienced personnel with decades of experience in both Department of Defense programs and Fortune
500 companies.
- Dahlgren Site Office provides on-site and near-site support to numerous Department of Defense programs
for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. ATR staff provide program management support for system
performance analysis, technical document editing, preparation, and scanning to digital format, operations and system performance analyses, and
ordnance and explosive item testing support.
- Information Systems Integration covering the full spectrum of information technology (IT) from network
design, integration and support, virtual private network
(VPN) design and integration, database design, development,
and analytical support, and Web site and page design, development, and support.
We provide full spectron document management including converting hardcopy and microfiche to electronic files.

Systems Automation
The Systems Automation Division provides experienced technical resources to solve
complex automation problems. Specific applications range from small special purpose devices
to large integrated material handling systems at the facility level. ATR can provide
technical services which span the total automation development cycle. These include:
- System modeling, simulation, and active visualization
- Detailed project planning and management
- Analysis and application of NIOSH guidelines
- Robotic work cell design is a specialty
- Trade-off analysis and ROI projection
- Integrated system design
- Rapid prototype, test and evaluation
- Field installation, support, and training
ATR engineers are specialists in design and integration of robotic work
cells and specialists in handling USPS mail containers and operations of USPS processing
facilities. ATR seasoned professionals tackle the mainstream as well as the exotic and
consistently deliver innovative solutions with some of the most rapid turn around times
in the industry.
