The incumbent shall be capable of performing vessel load and stability calculations, and buoyancy, drag, and other hydrodynamic force determinations to insure proper equipment and employment methods. The position requires extensive experience and knowledge of shipboard navigation principles and use of positioning systems (surface and underwater) to accomplish work in remote, adverse physical environments. Broad work experience in a wide range of ocean environments, including the Gulf Stream and Bahamas is desired. The incumbent shall be knowledgeable in the deployment, recovery, and salvage of large items from the seafloor and water column; and have a comprehensive and practical knowledge of engineering procedures; and a practicable knowledge of safety and environmental regulations while in support of at-sea and shipboard operations.
  • This position requires work both in at-sea and shore side environments. This position requires good to excellent physical conditioning, agility and dexterity and a proved ability to work in an at-sea environment. At sea work will, at times, be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Extensive hours under mental/physical stress conditions while at sea should be expected. Walking, climbing, bending and carrying moderately heavy instruments and equipment are required both at sea and ashore. Occasional use of small-boats during at-sea transfers and data-gathering activities can be expected.
